Conferences of Contemporary Chemistry. Edition 2 - 2008 Important event in the world of the Romanian chemists - 2008 The second edition of the National Symposium with international participation CONTEMPORARY CHEMISTRY CONFERENCES had the Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, as guest of honor. Mr. Lehn is a well known and appreciated professor at ISIS (L'Institut de Science et d'Ingenerie Supramoleculaire) Strasbourg. The scientific event took place on May 1, 2008 at the Hilton - Athenee Palace, under the aegis of the Romanian Academy and Society of Chemistry in Romania. SYSCOM 18 Company and the National Authority for Scientific Research joined the event as sponsors. The conferences have attracted the interest of over 100 specialists in chemistry, over a fifth of them were from abroad. Among them there were: Olof Ramstrom from Sweden's Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) Ionel Haiduc , President of the Romanian Academy Mihai Barboiu, L'Institut Europeen des Membranes din Montpellier Daniel Funeriu, Marie Curie Excellence Team Leader, Technische Universitat, Munchen Mister Mihai Barboiu received - from the President of the Romanian Academy - the Order awarded by the President of Romania in 2004 and the title of Honorary Member and the Medal Costin Nenitescu from the President of Romania Chemical Society. The symposium concluded with prizes for the best articles published in the Chemistry Magazine and the Plastics Magazine awarded by SYSCOM 18 Company.
