Conferences of Contemporary Chemistry. Edition 4 - 2010
2010: Once a year, the Contemporary Chemistry presents its news in Bucharest
The twelfth edition of the national Symposium with international participation Contemporary Chemistry Conferences, organized by Syscom 18 and SC Chemistry Library SA and held on 14th of May 2010 in Bucharest, brought together more than 100 specialists, personalities from Romanian and international scientific landscape.
The scientific event was attended by Mr. Ionel Haiduc, President of the Romanian Academy.
The Contemporary Chemistry Conferences aim to present the results from several fields of chemistry, focusing on top-level domains (tectonic molecular, nanotechnology, environmental science and engineering).
The academic event allows researchers in Romania to make real contact and establish collaborations with researchers from several countries involved in international research programs. The Contemporary Chemistry Conferences aim to develop new research directions in top areas of chemistry, with economic and social implications.
'What we propose by organizing Contemporary Chemistry Conferences is to harness the potential that Romania has on the level of research in chemistry and also to draw an alarm signal in order to return the status of scientist in its rightful place. Unfortunately, the freedom of action and the motivation of the Romanian researchers are sometimes restrained by under-financing of projects. We were among the few who understand that a successful research requires first to focus efforts on all levels; therefore we annually support the Contemporary Chemistry Conferences, in order to create and maintain links with academia abroad.'
- said Ion Andronache, the president of the Industrial Automation Company, Syscom 18, the initiator of Contemporary Chemistry Conferences.
The presentations sustained by the guests from academic and scientific environment revealed the latest findings in the field of contemporary chemistry, pointing out the current problems of chemistry, the major directions of research, the situation and outlook of the chemical industry.
Prof. Doctor Eng. Mir Wais Hosseini opened the meeting with Molecular Tectonics: from structural units to crystal architecture.
The paper of Mr. Hosseini deals with the shaping of molecular networks, a phenomenon whose scientific research is still in its infancy, but which finds applicability in the generation of structurally controlled networks.
Bogdan C. Simionescu, member of the Romanian Academy and director of the Macromolecular Chemistry Institute of 'Petru Poni' Iasi, is one of the Romanian promoters of researches that have the prospect of practical applications.
The paper presented at the Contemporary Chemistry Conferences, 'From functional polymers to macromolecular architectures' emphasizes the importance of functional polymers as versatile construction elements for obtaining nanostructured architectures and new plastics.
