The Disperse Analysis of Clinoptilolitic Volcanic Tuff and the Fractions Characterization. I. The Disperse Analysis

Abstract:

The paper presents the way the disperse analysis of Mârşid-Ortelec (Romania) clinoptilolitic volcanic tuff has been carried out by screening and optical microscopy. Particles sizes ranged between 0,0475-0,715 mm. The number distribution curves have been drawn: the histogram, the cumulative and differential curves. The number average (an), modal (aM) and median (am) diameters have been evaluated. The granulometric analysis allowed the polydispersity of the tuff under study to be estimated. The Rosin-Rammler granulometric distribution has been found to be accurate only for large dimension (0.08-0.715 mm) fractions, for which the distribution parameters have been estimated.
