The pH Influence on the Oxihemoglobin Auto-Oxidation

Abstract:

Auto-oxidation of oxyhemoglobin (HbO2) from human hemoglobin samples prepared at various pH values has been studied spectrophotometrically by recording the absorption spectra of the samples immediately after their preparation and at further time moments. For the preparation of hemoglobin solutions have been used 0.01 M sodium phosphate buffers with pH values between 5.6 and 8.0. The apparent rate constants of the processes of aerobe autoxidation of HbO2 at 24°C depend on the pH of the working samples, having the values between 0.771·10-3 h-1 for pH=8.0 and 3.502·10-3 h-1 for pH=5.6.
